At long last, we’re finally able to release the cover for War Stories. Created by Hugo Award winning artist Galen Dara, this cover perfectly captures the tone for the anthology, and we’re excited to see it gracing the front of the final book. We will note that this isn’t quite the final version: what appears on the front cover will likely change a bit between now and the actual printing process.

From the start, we knew we wanted something that was evocative of the nature of war: not fighting, but the aftermath of violence. Pictured in the scene is a patrol of three soldiers, in the midst of a war-torn city. What we’ve ended up with is something that’s even better than what we imagined we’d get when we first started talking about this project.
This artwork will be used for the regular trade edition of the anthology; we’ll have another, limited edition hardcover that will feature an alternate cover.

Nowhere yet! The book is being Kickstarted in conjunction with Apex Publications. You’ll be able to essentially preorder the book when that comes (soon!), and have it in your hands sometime in early 2014.
Love it. The place-holder image hinted at the art style that Galen Dara was going to go for, and it is perfect. I can’t wait to see this on my bookshelf.
The placeholder image is actually from this! We had Galen do up the soldier in front in a bit more detail. We actually like it enough that that’ll likely end up being the final image for a limited-run hard cover reward.
